White Tank Mountains

The White Tank Mountains tour will be approximately 2 hours.  The White Tank Mountains, in the west Valley of the Sun (Phoenix, Arizona), experience infrequent but heavy rains that cause flash floodwaters to plunge through the canyons and pour onto the areas below. These torrential flows, pouring down chutes and dropping off ledges, have scoured out a series of depressions, or tanks, in the white granite rock below, thus giving the mountains their name. We will be driving through these mountains observing the cacti, birds, wildlife and beautiful scenery with a little off roading.

We might add a stop to the tour, depending on the interests of the group, as there is a new, beautiful library and nature center near the entrance to the White Tank Regional Park. The nature center includes live rattlesnakes, scorpions, and spiders, plus a great insect collection.  Inside the park, are hiking trails leading to waterfalls, great desert scenery and Petroglyphs.
